This project involved a two-story addition and a comprehensive renovation to an existing 1920’s Cape Cod style home. The focus was on improving flow, daylight, and adding usable square footage for a growing family. The design strategy recaptured underutilized space within the original structure while extending the home through carefully scaled rear and front additions totaling approximately 1,460 SF. Throughout the process, the architecture prioritized continuity-enhancing function while preserving the home’s original character.

By combining the existing front dormers, we maintained the proportions by increased headroom and natural light on the second floor, transforming what had been a tight layout into more flexible and useable spaces.

Structural upgrades were made and roof lines were added but mirrored the existing details. Custom windows and doors improved circulation and daylight, while coordinated siding, trim, and exterior detailing further unified old and new.
